Andrew Grieve writes and directs this drama based on Bruce Chatwin’s novel. Welsh farmer Amos Jones (Bob Peck) and his middle-class, English wife Mary (Gemma Jones) welcome twin boys, named Benjamin and Lewis (Mike and Robert Gwilym), at the turn of the 20th century. The films covers 80 years of their life during which time the twins are inseparable and together survive their puritanical upbringing, two wars and financial and emotional hardship while they remain on their father’s farm. At the opening of the film, the twins, now 80-years-old, are awaiting the arrival of their only heir, their grand-nephew Kevin (Eryl Huw Phillips).
