Antonio Gades and his troupe rehearse and perform a flamenco ballet version of Lorca’s tragedy of outraged honour and revenge. Filmed in a bare day-lit studio, director Carlos Saura concentrates on the gestures, ceremony and conventions in the ballet itself injecting the story with dramatic and cinematic passion.
